Loggers Ink Florida Gulf Coast Backstop

The La Crosse Loggers now have three catchers signed for the 2010 season as they announced the signing of Florida Gulf Coast University catcher Mike Reeves.
Reeves joins Chris O’Dowd (Dartmouth) and Bennett Pickar (Oral Roberts) as the trio of catchers for the Loggers this upcoming season. Reeves was a 42nd round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft before making the decision to attend FGCU. Reeves is also expected to see significant playing time in this his freshman year at FGCU as starting catcher Robert Greene is currently sidelined with an elbow injury.
A 2009 graduate of St. Peter’s Secondary School, Reeves was named to the Premiere Baseball League All-Star Team. Reeves was also a multi-sport athlete in high school as he was named the Most Valuable Player on his high school basketball team.
Reeves comes from a family filled with athletic talent as his father played hockey for the University of Pennsylvania. His brother, Jeff, also played collegiate baseball as he played for Winthrop University.
The Loggers will open this upcoming season on June 2, 2010 as they play host to the visiting Eau Claire Express. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 at Copeland Park.
